Message of greeting on the occasion of establishing
the RobinAid Foundation

Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg
Ole von Beust – First Mayor
A happy childhood means romping, playing and laughing children. Countless children in war areas are seriously ill or have life-threatening injuries – to say nothing about their mental illnesses.
The RobinAid Foundation has been established this year and is committed to helping children and youngsters in Afghanistan and to supporting reconstruction of medical facilities and institutions in the war area.
I am full of praise for the energetic volunteers, doctors and their staff who, on a voluntary basis, fly to Kabul to operate on seriously injured or ill children, to train and educate local doctors and medical staff, or to further develop local hospitals. The doctors and medical staff assume a big responsibility and spend their free time helping children in Kabul instead of enjoying a vacation. They do not only restore the health of boys and girls in Afghanistan, but also give these children a new perspective and a future.
The Foundation provides further treatment for the children here in Hamburg also. Many hospitals in Hamburg offer extensive treatment for the children, who are staying with selected host families during their process of recovery.
My most sincere thanks and gratitude go to all volunteers, to the doctors and their teams, to the host families as well as to the Hamburg Board of Trustees and the Foundation Advisory Committee of RobinAid for their most impressive involvement. I wish you all a good start and great success with your commitment in Afghanistan.

First Mayor
Ole von Beust
